Mr. Khaled Hassan Mahmoud Rashed - Non-Executive Chairman
Khaled is a financial industry leader with over 28 years of regional and international experience across private equity, capital markets and banking. He has led 110+ M&A, financing & restructuring transactions across 15 industries in 12 countries, with aggregate deal value exceeding USD 20 Bn, translating strategy into execution and sustained shareholder value.
He currently serves as the Chairman of Bullion, an investment firm based in Egypt. He’s the founder of Sameem, the MENA region’s first activist investment firm, Khaled pioneered shareholder activism in Egypt. He led campaigns generating returns exceeding 70%. His campaigns prompted new regulations mandating relative board representation & cumulative voting across Egyptian companies, strengthening minority shareholder protections. Activist Insight, the Global authority on shareholder activism, recognized one of the campaigns as a governance milestone, noting that “Egypt’s first activist campaign leads to a better regulatory environment.”
During his tenure as Managing Director of MCDR, he led an institutional transformation that aligned Egypt’s clearing house with international standards, achieving record profitability of EGP 1.1 billion, 112% annual growth, and ROE of 51%. As Chairman of the Egyptian Settlement Guarantee Fund, he played a central role in strengthening capital market operations & investor protection mechanisms.
As CEO of Amwal Investment Bank, he executed a restructuring that increased net profits 31-fold and culminated in the company’s sale, delivering a 750% return to shareholders.
A governance professional, he has served on boards across finance, capital markets, retail, real estate, education, and manufacturing, as well as on offshore private equity and hedge funds.
His leadership has been recognized globally: the World Economic Forum honored him for leading CORECAP as a Growth Champion; Arabian Business named him among the GCC’s 50 Most Admired Executives; ITP awarded him CEO of the Year; Iktisad Wa Amwal recognized him as CEO of the Leading Investment Bank in Qatar; he has been named a Young Arab Leader (YAL–UAE), included in Who’s Who, featured by Islamic Finance Publication as a private equity pioneer, and awarded Most Influential Financial Player in Egypt by DNE.
He began his career as a credit officer in CIB Egypt and later held senior roles at CORECAP, Abraaj Capital and Dubai Islamic Bank. He holds Master’s & Bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration, plus certifications in finance and investment.
